Needs moar clickbait. Change title to: Montreal Race War: Other people HATE when you drive like this.
Then, throw in these on the thumbnail and hey presto, 1M views minimum.

How many heat cycles do those tires give before going off? Also, do you all run them full tread depth or is shaving allowed?

It did cross my mind to put emojis in. I may have traded my dignity for views, but I don’t want to give people cancer.

I’m not really sure, I don’t have enough experience with them. I think they were going off by the end of this weekend, so that would have been 7 sessions so maybe like 8 cycles, with nearly a year in the middle. No shaving is allowed, they have to be run as they are.

Interesting. I’ve not run those tires, but my experience with similar in that class of tires was that while they’ll indeed last forever, they also had a significant performance drop-off after 2-3 heat cycles. I know some of the top-level autocross guys end up running a fresh set of tires every weekend.
We used to run an informal “winter” series with some spec miata/IT guys where we all agreed to run street tires instead of sticky rubber. It was great fun, and cheap. I was disappointed SCCA decided against adopting 120TW+ tires for IT this year. Even if it required a fresh set every weekend to win, they still cost just over half of a set of sticky rubber, and they’d give those of us who just want to have some fun playing the option to run multiple weekends on a set of tires.

The teams all say that the R888R’s are actually slower on their first cycle. I was pretty much just as competitive this year as last year, so I think they held up pretty well.
It’s kind of a similar situation with us. My regular season in the SCCA Pro series uses Hoosier slicks, we go through a set every weekend and they’re a little over $1,000. The Toyos are about $600 and they last forever. They’re a lot slower but if its the same for everyone who cares?
At least the Hoosiers pull more G, which is more fun.
